Hi Gilles,
WOW! Some of that sounds like I've heard it before. I didn't know about
the message buffer and will check it. That info will be very valuable, as I
will be able to check the messages more closely. Thanks again.

   NHello Jim,
NDo you have a particular error message when ispell is called?
   NEmacspeak provides the "C-e a" command to repeat the last message;
Nanother way is also to visit the *Messages* buffer.
NHere is a detailed test case in four stages which works here. Sorry
   Nif this is too verbose.
NThe Oralux release for the test was not 0.6 alpha but the CD demoed
   Nat the Libre Software meeting.
N* 1. Emacspeak is operational. A very short file is loaded (C-x
NC-f); it only includes these three lines:
   N;; add for 0.6 alpha
   N(setq ispell-dictionary "english")
   N(setq-default ispell-program-name "aspell")
N* 2. The cursor is placed on the second line (ispell-dictionnary),
   Nupon the word: "english" .
   NThen this command is typed:
   NM-x ispell-word
   NThere is a beep.
NBecause the ispell variables are not yet correctly set up.
   NThe displayed message error is:
N"Searching for program: no such file or directory, ispell."
NThis message was not said, but is available in the *Messages*
   Nbuffer.
N* 3. Then the three lines buffer was evaluated using:
   NM-x eval-buffer
   NNo beep.
N* 4. The cursor is placed again upon the "english" word, and
   NM-x ispell-word
   Nis typed:
NFor some reason, I firstly received a error message "Text is read
Nonly" (the full message is "ispell-command-loop: Text is read
   Nonly").
NSo, the M-x ispell-word command was typed again.
NA list of twelve possibilities was proposed:
   N(0) English (1) Englisher (2) English's
   Nand so on.
NIf this test can't be successfully achieved, thanks to indicate the
   Nerror message if any.
   NCheers
   NGilles

   NBonjour,
NC'est en rponse Jim qui a des soucis pour la mise jour de la
Nconfiguration d'ispell. On dtaille une squence de test qui
Nfonctionne ici avec le CD de dmo des RMLL 2004.
