I'm confused by the question. Have you tried oralux already? This is the
oralux list, afterall. You mention you're new to linux so I'm thinking you
somehow found the oralux list but don't know what it is.
If my guess is right, go to oralux.org. I think you'll be pleasantly
surprised.

Also, linux-speakup.org if you have a hardware speech synth.
Finally, there is yasr (I think that's what it is called) but I have never
tried that.
