I'll give that a try and see what I get.
Now going to figure out what key word I'll need to pass to alsa.

knoppix alsa=xxx
where xxx is the driver identifier.
Could you provide details about your sound chip?
The best would be to get the vendor Id and product Id (both have 4
characters).
