Frankly, the best is to possibly check by yourself the distinct TTS. You may be interested in checking eSpeak using the last version of Emacspeak (from Subversion). eSpeak is available at: http://espeak.sf.net You may download Emacspeak still in development using: svn checkout http://emacspeak.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ emacspeak This version uses eSpeak in English. Others languages might come in a soon future. PortAudio must be installed too, if possible a recent V19 release. For info, eSpeak is now the default TTS in the daily built Ubuntu CD. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ Ubuntu Feisty is expected in April. At the moment, you may check the Orca screen reader under Gnome and eSpeak in English and others languages.
