OK, taking a different tack, I installed weblogic locally and attempted
to make an outbound connection to the weblogic name service:
--ORBNamingIOR=corbaloc:iiop:localhost:7001/NameService%00
as described in the FAQ, I get no connection. Any suggestions on how to
approach connection difficulties like this?

You must use:

not
-ORBIIOPIPv4=1
All ORB options start with "--".
I'm actually using pyorbit as a front end, and either format seems to
work ( atleast -ORBCorbaloc=1 and --ORBCorbaloc=1 both work).
Any other ideas?
