Dear Mr. Chryst;
I live in Oviedo, Florida and I have heard of the two Catts. you are
looking for. I belong to the Central Florida Orchid Society that meets at Leu
Gardens in Orlando, Florida. I urge you to come visit the second Monday of
each month at 7:00 PM at Leu because we could link you up with some great stuff
for Mead and Rollins college, one of the prettiest college campuses in Florida.
There are several members who might be able to find the orchid or at least
make the cross for you or let you know where to obtain the stud plants. Bob
Clifford is a retired Navy SEAL who knows many orchid collectors in Central
Florida: [EMAIL PROTECTED] His nursery is Bokay orchids that he owns with Kathi
his wife. Another person you might ask is Mr. Ed Gilliland is an AOS judge, or
even corresspond with Marv and Jan Ragan, AOS judges who live in JAX and own
MAJ orchids.
Incidentally, I belong to the UCF Arboretum and I used to take care of the
greenhouse plants and the orchids. I don't know whether you are into
enviromental politics, but the Friends of the Arboretum and The Sierra Club got
UCF to revise its master plan and keep the Arboretum and wildlife sanctuary.
UCF won't be building on the endangered gopher tortise land or wetlands.
Hooray!! I am taking steps to get our Arboretum a Plant rescue center like
Selby. If Rollins is interested in becoming a plant rescue center too, let me
know and I will turn over any copies of applications.
Yours truly,
Nancy

Hello,
My name is Alan Chryst and I'm the greenhouse manager of a private
college called Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. I'm also on a
committee called Friend of Mead Gardens which is also located in Winter
Park, Florida. Our goal is to reinvent and revitalize Mead Gardens.
Currently, we are putting together an exhibit for the Winter Park
Historical Society of Mr. Mead who the garden is named after. Mr.
Mead's chief hobby was growing orchids and he became internationally
recognized. "The London Orchid Review" called him the creator of many
artistic
orchids, two of which The Kew Garden in London named for him. One, the
Cattleya
Meadii, for the man, and the other, the Cattleya Oviedo".
