This is not a problem with wick filter humidifiers, as they produce
essentially distilled mist. The salts in tap water are trapped in the wick
filter.

Not sure what you mean. Some of the wick filter humidifiers are equipped with
humidistats, but they can be set at any level. Of course you don't want one
that is intrinsically set too low. The only limitation with room humidifiers
is
their capacity. You need more than one for a plant room, but for a small
hobby collection, I don't recommend a greenhouse humidifier.
