If you want to protect yourself do not give out any more personnel information than is absolutely necessary to transact business. I know people who have had all kinds of problems from giving out too much information to the wrong person and getting bitten.
Sorry Margaret, you are probably a wonderful person, but I recommend people not give out any information to anyone.
