Sharon, Without wading into a huge religious debate, i'll point out something simple. Just because jesus said X and X is consistent with the OT, does not mean that all of Jesus's teachings were in accordance with the OT. Further, if any of Jesus's teachings were inconsistent with the OT, one must reject the teachings of Jesus, because Jesus's authority is premised on the acceptance of the OT. To further define "inconsistent," I mean in direct contradiction to prior statements or law given by G-D.
For example, if you believe that Jesus said that the only way to the Father is through him, and you accepted the OT, this would be blasphemous and contradictory. Without citing anything Jesus said, you could look at all the messiah prophecies that were not fulfilled in the OT, and that there was no second coming in the OT.
