Dear Friends,
Just a note from Greece regarding Orchid
eating.
We have a hot drink here called Salepi made from
Orchid roots served hot with cinnamon sprinkled on top.
It is sold by Street - sellers here in Athens and
especially in our Port of Piraeus.
The whole procedure is very graphic involving carts
loaded with an intricate Copper cauldron fired with charcoal and I believe has
come to us from Turkey over the years.
