True, but melanin seems to occupy roughly the same position among animals that anthocyanin does in plants. We are familiar with the concept that an albino animal or human has pink skin, white hair, and red eyes. An albino plant is lacking in the equivalent anthocyanin. Just as an albino plant may have green flowers, would an albino mandrill have white hair and a blue tush?
