Most of us know the hazards of blue asbestos, but what is the medical comparison to perlite? Even commercial barks have warnings about health hazards, including Legionnaires disease! Some grades of perlite here in Melbourne appear to be fairly free of dust so need no sieving to remove it. Nevertheless, there is always some dust, and I agree that safety first means avoiding its inhalation, and the two methods already fielded seem sensible. Paul.
