Fortunately Jerry Fisher understood the intended thrust of my post in OGD
V8#174 which seems to have eluded Andy Easton. The issue is not whether or
not I get to judge, at the Miami WOC but the arrogance of the organizers
and Andy in coming up with ad hoc exclusion criteria. Heretofore
judging at a previous WOC was qualification enough and I have judged at the last
two WOCs. As for being recognized as a judge by a formal
organization, I remain, to the best of my knowledge, a certified judge of
the group that Robert Fuchs dominates, the South Florida Orchid Society, despite
a false claim in a past OGD that I had resigned. To gain perspective
regarding my personal need to judge at any future WOC, I invite
anyone to Google Bert Pressman, or my persona in Science, Berton C
Pressman.
I am also concerned that neither the orchid
club, of which I am president, nor the two other clubs, of which I am a
Board member, have been invited to participate in the planning for the
Miami WOC. So far the apparent accomplishments of the WOC
teem seem to be the rescinded selection of an ill
chosen location [Miami Beach], and new, arbitrary criteria for
judges. This does not bode well for the Miami WOC . Bert
