My Bulbophyllum fletcherianum is in spike for the first time. I have
two of the fletcherianum and one B. phalaenopsis that have not bloomed
before. I have had these plants a number of years and grow them in a
warm greenhouse in Massachusetts. I decided to put one out in the trees
this summer and leave the others in the greenhouse. They all have
light green new growth. The one in the greenhouse is the one in spike
and is showing lots of red buds on a large (tennis ball size) sphere
that reminds me of a pineapple. I'm fascinated with the evolving
flower spike. How long does it take to bloom and how long does it stay
in bloom?

Cheers,

Laura
