And 75% of the rest are pictures by semi-commercial growers, and ooohs and aaahs over the pictures. I can't remember when an idea was expressed last. The forum hasn't had an opinion about the AOS expressed since the new format. The web censor takes care of that. Can't say anything about it, especially if it even hints at criticism, even if constructive. Organizations grow with new ideas, and the discussion of new ideas, and the review of old practices. But not on the forum.

The power decided to ignore their base and target the beginner with one phalaenopsis. "Orchids" became more and more just a lovely photo-shopped publication and dropped any pretense at education. And then the website forum was so sanitized as to be worthless. Lee touts the 20,000 posts and ignores the fact that 10% of the posts are by one person who doesn't have a clue but feels it's her mission to coddle every new beginner with a message of love and understanding. I have been a member since 1970 and continually hope to see some sign that they realize the errors and will try to return to a more responsive group. Not seeing much promise though.
