I regret having to inform you that Federico Halbinger passed away last Sunday. A lot of you surely remember he as one of our top orchidologist. He made important contributions to the knowledge of the genus Barkeria, Rhynchostele and Laelia in Mexico (e.g. Laelias of Mexico) and was an emeritus founder member and judge of the Asociacion Mexicana de Orquideologia, among other several achievements. He surely will be missed
