"The Johor government has allocated an 80ha site in Ayer Hitam for growing
orchids in an effort to increase the state's export share of cut orchids.
Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the site at the Ayer Hitam
modern agriculture project will add to the 500ha of commercial orchid
cultivation by 78 local operators.

"The state government fully supports this venture as it brings us good
revenue," he said...
Johor contributed 83 per cent of Malaysia's orchid export, making the
country the world's second-largest exporter of orchids after Thailand.

The other exporting countries are Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, the
United States and some European countries."
