"the Lavernock Point nature reserve... annual opening to the public.
guided walks around the... coastal limestone grassland reserve managed by
the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales...

Lavernock Point comprises an inland unimproved meadow and a cliff-top field
bearing a mosaic of fine, unimproved limestone grassland and scrub.

Two thirds of the reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the
area is a haven for plants...
plant life includes...
early purple orchid [Orchis mascula],
common spotted orchid [Dactylorhiza fuchsii],
bee orchid [Ophrys apifera], and
greater butterfly orchid [Platanthera chlorantha],
which occur in glades in the scrub."

Lavernock Point also has an important place in... history... In May 1897,
Marconi made history by sending the first wireless signals across the water
from Lavernock Point to Flat Holm island.

The reserve lies between Cardiff and Barry"
