I'm in the midst of updating a presentation that I've been doing for
a few years for a January Term horticulture class (and other
interested persons) on our campus. It covers orchids, xerophytes,
and carnivorous plants, but is about 70% about orchids. I like to
show diagrams and photos of the primitive orchid genera Apostasia and
Neuwiedia, and am wondering if any of the list members know of
commercial sources for plants or seeds of species of either of these
genera. I think that they would make excellent educational additions
to our college greenhouse collection.

While rummaging around the Internet for information on Apostasioids,
I ran across this very interesting site that is a checklist of the
native orchids of Laos, complete with many photos of
rarely-illustrated species: http://www.orchisasia.org/orchids%20list.html

One genus that's illustrated is Otostylis, which I hadn't thought
about for a long time (it's actually included in a set of gardening
encyclopedias from the NY Botanical Garden from the early 60s) - the
flowers are striking and quite strange, with an enormously prominent column.
