Maxillaria buchtienii is a synonym of M. splendens. The type of M.
splendens in the Geneva herbarium is identical to the type of M.
buchtienii. Bennett and Christenson considered them different, but the
plant they illustrated as M. splendens in Icones Orchidacearum
Peruviarum plate 115 is different from the type of M. splendens. (it is
most likely Maxillaria gracilipes Schltr.).

Now, the question is which of the two you have.
