Rob Halgren,... accredited American Orchid Society... judge... A former researcher at both Michigan State University and Northwestern University... Halgren said the Great Lakes Region of the AOS has about 34 judges and is based in Ann Arbor. [How many AOS judges in Florida, how many in California ?] He serves with 12 to 15 fellow judges for events around the state. There also are societies in Jackson, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Traverse City and Kalamazoo... "It's a lot like going through grad school (to become a judge)," Halgren acknowledged.
