I've read the various comments from various people about the design and placing of various symbols.
There is a very good rule of thumb that should be employed here: Keep It Simple, Stupid! Show your diagram to someone who is not an expert - do they understand it? And, in my opinion, if you have to add written instructions to your diagram - you haven't diagrammed it properly. Anyone wishing to diagram clearly should, quite deliberately, try to emulate Nick Robinson, Robert Lang, Nicholas Terry and, if I may be allowed to blow my own trumpet, me. Finally, I have a complete set of symbols that anyone is welcome to have and use - including my own "Collapse on the Indicated Creases" and "Right About There" symbols.
