Box making

If you want a box to hold 6” paper that is 2” deep you need to consider
that what you really want is a box that is 6.25” as a base because you want
to be able to get the paper out easily.

So you need a sheet of heavy cardstock that is 10.25” square.

2” side + 6.25” base + 2” side = 10.25”

Score 2” all the away around. Bend up sides. Cut parallel line the depth
of the box on opposite sides of the box. You will now have 4 tabs. Glue
the tabs to the sides of the box. I like to glue to the inside on the
bottom box and the outside of the lid when I actually think about it.

For the lid you either need to score the box at 1 7/8” all around or start
with a square that is 10.5”. Repeat above.

This takes some practice because sometimes your scores are not straight or
accurate. When using heavier cardstock or corrugated cardboard you need to
allow more room because the scores take up room.

You can cut off the squares on the corners and put tape around where the
edges meet..
