Hey y’all,

I’ve been teaching origami tessellations online for a few years now and I’m really excited to share my new course with you.

Tessellation Starter Sequence has 50 recorded lessons on everything from gridding to how to fold individual twists to what sequence of tessellations to practice to build up to folding high-intermediate tessellations one twist at a time.

The course comes with annotated crease patterns to help you spot the key features of each tessellation and how they repeat so that you can start reading (and folding from) any tessellation crease pattern.

The Starter Sequence came about because my Tessellations by Tiles (TBT) students asked for more pieces to practice to build the skills we were using in TBT - and the 10 lessons in Basic Twists Bootcamp weren’t enough.

TBT is also open for enrollment right now and it focuses on the many uses of tiling patterns in origami tessellations.

These uses include seeing what order to fold the twists in, seeing how many distinct positions are present in the tessellation (aka how many pieces of information you need to fold it), and designing tessellations by filling these distinct positions.

The core of TBT in this year’s iteration are the recordings of the 24 live workshops in 2022 where I discussed a tiling, folded a tessellation, ran through a design exercise, and prototyped a new tessellation in each workshop.

Happy folding,

Madonna Yoder
