| Thank for your note Lorenzo Re: the paper boat —- but i think i disagree with your assessment. That paper boat is definitely drawn incorrectly in the photo i sent. But even that incorrect version only comes from the origami paper boat. And it’s still origami even if the person drawing doesn’t know it and even if the person drawing doesn’t know how to draw it correctly. The painting is also of a paper boat made from school note paper… which is exactly how someone would’ve learnt about it. The drawing is just very inaccurately drawn but it is firmly in the origami space… imho Best, Vishakha . Hi Vishakha, I don’t think these images are actually origami. Let me explain. Technically, they tend to represent origami, just as the doves depicted are birds and the brown trousers are an item of clothing. But perhaps those who represent them draw on an image that doesn’t necessarily associate that little boat with origami, but rather with something belonging to the local culture, just like that pair of brown shorts. For this reason, although we may find it curious to see origami depicted in various situations, I generally pay little attention to them, just as an ornithologist would not wish to delve into why that particular breed of white doves has been (maybe unconsciously) depicted there. This isn't meant to be a criticism. It's just a thought on the fact that origami is sometimes portrayed "not as origami" – that is, without any realisation that it is origami – and that's fine :-) Ciao, Lorenzo On Sun, 3 May 2026 at 14:05, wanderer via Origami <[email protected]> wrote:
