Going a bit deeper into the National Library of Medicine’s file , I see this in the NLM catalogue’s Notes about the back of the trade card: Notes Verso: Scott's Emulsion of pure Norwegian cod=liver oil, with hypophosphites of lime and soda ... Calendar for 1894. [NLM Unique ID 101442423] Since the trade card advertises the “calendar for 1894,” 1893 seems a reasonable date for the card. Because Scott’s Emulsion was essentially cod-liver oil, which is loaded with vitamins and other nutrients, it might actually have helped “remedy diseases of emaciation.” Happy folding!
