Pliny prided himself in his ability to work with both Greek and Latin
sources. I think we may at least contemplate the possibility that some of
his discussion of Judea - and the Essenes - may have come from Greek sources.
My question is, what scholarly apparatus is there for identifying how Greek
translates into Latin (or working in the reverse direction from Latin to
Greek). Is there something comparable to Hatch-Redpath-Maraoka's Concordance
to the Septuagint, which documents Hebrew and Greek correspondences known
from the LXX? Has anyone done such a study already on the relevant passages
of Pliny?
