Hmmmm.... Sounds strange that to be "least worst choice".

If my understanding is not totally up the wall, the natural solution would be 
for the framework to register a delegation factory or similar. (I know 
Reflection is out of the question...)

I think a "hack" in Maven2 will allow each of the projects to reference each 
other sources, plus filters of what goes into the respective Jars, but Brett 
would have better ideas.
