I'm not sure if this helps, but the clients' network interfaces are set up in their autoinstall script (/var/lib/systemimager/scripts IIRC). Look for eth0 and you'll see what I'm talking about. We've needed to change those files to set up eth1 instead of eth0 on some machines we've installed on. It seemed to be the only way to change it.
