While the FINE Mandrake 10.0 OFFICIAL version of perl is 5.8.3, fourteen (14), yes, that's 14, of the rpms load files into various 5.8.1 trees.
The offending rpms are:

INC isn't updated until the next time perl starts after the problem rpms are installed, so, on the first pass, only the 5.8.3 (and one 5.8.2) paths are set in @INC. On the second pass, the miscreant 5.8.1 paths are also present.
Now I need to figure out how to fix it...
