Hi John: Can you explain what you mean by "renamed oscarimage in systemimager directory and Step 5 died"?
If you did choose the new image in the "Add OSCAR Clients" step, then the new image should be deployed. Just to be sure, perhaps you can add a file to the new image (perhaps something like /etc/blah) and see if it shows in the imaged node. If so, then you're using the new image. BTW, if all you want to do is use the non-SMP kernel in your image, you can just remove the kernel-smp RPM from the image in /var/lib/systemimager/images directory via the rpm -er command. I'm not positive kernel_picker is actually working as advertised, perhaps somebody else can comment on this.
