Title: [Oscar-devel] oscar 5.0r4630-20060424 / FC5 / client etherboot issue
Hi Neil:

So you're saying that all defined clients have an assigned IP address but when they boot they cannot get a DHCP lease?

The MONITOR_SERVER ip address shouldn't really matter in this case.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-devel] oscar 5.0r4630-20060424 / FC5 / client etherboot issue

hi,

i'm testing the latest thunk oscar 5.0r4630-20060424 on fedora core 5
and i'm having client etherboot issues

i'm using an etherboot image that worked on oscar 4.2 with FC3
my NICs are 3com 3c905CX-TXM

the 'scan for MAC address' works.
the /etc/dhcpd.conf looks OK (all MACs assigned right names etc.)

i can see the DHCP lease offer from the headnode in /var/log/messages
(eg.
"
> Apr 24 11:26:14 pg-207 dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:04:76:18:b6:1e via eth1
> Apr 24 11:26:14 pg-207 dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 10.10.1.8 to
> 00:04:76:18:b6:1e via eth1
"
the client etherboot continues to say ". No IP address"

i can modify the dhcpd.conf to add a new mac and then i can add my
powerbook to the internal interface and it gets a lease successfully
(obviously not a systemimage boot)

not sure if it is relevant but
one thing i noticed is that when i look at the
/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default
i see that the external interface of the head node is referenced
"
APPEND vga=extended initrd=initrd.img root=/dev/ram
MONITOR_SERVER=136.206.19.207
"

any ideas ?
