What do you mean by native Debian package support ?
The package already exists in Debian and is up-to-date (2.2.2-1).
As soon as a new version is released, simply contact dann frazier 
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> who did the last update:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/systemconfigurator.html
If SystemConfigurator "OSCAR" is now merged with "vanilla", you don't have to 
worry about this package anymore.
