Hi,

If you want to port OSCAR on a new distro, you typically need to do the
following tasks:
1/ Make sure your distro is correctly detected.
2/ Create the binary packages for all core OSCAR packages (you may be able to
reuse some binary packages from other RPM based distros).
3/ Create the binary packages for the included OSCAR packages you want to use
(non-core such as MPI and so on).

To be honest, i do not know if those tasks are easy to perform when using
branch-5-1; and i know for sure trunk is still moving a lot currently to allow
you to have a quick port.

I know i do not really answer your questions but if you need more detailed
help, feel free to ask questions (for instance, i will be happy to write a
small doc about how to port trunk on a new distro).

Regards,

Objet: [Oscar-devel] Porting OSCAR to OpenSUSE 10.2+

Hi,

My name is Henrique Baggio, and in my work, we develop HPC's projects, using a
OSCAR Cluster 5.0 and OpenSuse 10.0-i386. However, we are having problems with
the Suse-10's suport to others applications we need use.

Hence, we are thinking of upgrading the system to a latest version of the
OpenSuse, and use OSCAR 5.1rc. But our system is i386-arch, and the OpenSuse
OSCAR's versions are x86_64, only.

So, we decide compile our OSCAR's version, compatible with OpenSuse 10.2 or
10.3, for i386.

How hard would be this task? We read the developers' section of wiki in OSCAR's
home page, but we still have some dubts about how do it. The section "Porting
OSCAR to a new distribution?" is no more avaliable. Then, we would like to know
if you can help us, with more information about the compilation process.

Thank you!
