Associates,

My partner and I are working on a clustering project to take GNU Octave, along
with MatLab, and installing it on a reliable clustered environment. We are
also trying to take advantage of the massive computing footprint to process
legacy Fortran single-threaded applications within a much faster processing
environment that can utilize multi-threaded technology applied to said
single-threaded legacy apps.

The hardware footprint for this environment is a Rack 42-U enclosure including
one master and 4 slave servers utilizing ASUS motherboards (AMD processors, 2x6
core ea.) with dual NICs along with a RAID-5 SAN server. We have setup the
Slaves and the Master to utilize the SAN via a private 1Gb network. The Master
and the Slaves servers are setup with Ubuntu 11.04 OS and the Slave servers are
setup for PXE-boot from the Master server, utilizing TFTP, etc.

We started using the Kerrighed Clustering solution but quickly determined that
support for this product is thin and the solution is probably out-of-date. We
have now come across the Oscar Clustering solution and are trying to determine
if it can provide the processing we are looking for. Any input on this would
be most valued.

Your help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Spencer
