Mauricio,

You say that you got some old PC's together and couldn't make them
network boot. We had similar problems. It was not until we got rid of
the Pentium I's that we were able to make our cluster work. In short,
do not use any PC's older than Pentium II.

Hello people!

Im using Oscar to make a cluster at the Deutsche Post... they want to
look
into clustering technology and so I recommended OSCAR. Problem is I got
some
old PCs and cant get them to network boot. So I write the MAC.info file
manually.. and when I go to step 7, because I cant network boot I get
all
sort of problems..

Network boot: I use the floppy method: the DHCP daemon is runnning and
without firewall problems (other computers get their IP from this DHCP
server). The clients to make put the cluster boot but they just say
"founf
realtek device 8139 " and then they display the message of "looking for
DHCP
server". The dhcpd.conf file has the "filename" directive to the
/tftpboot/vmlinuz file. tcpdump tells me the clients are periodically
sending some sort of request something...

I suspect my problem is with the tftp daemon or somenthing (do I have to

set it up manually, if so how?). If anyone is reading this and saying
"poor
guy, I know how that feels..." please drop a line... Ive read the
manual
too many times and reruned lui another few :-)

wiedersehen!
