Ravi,
I think you're saying that the compute node boots over the network,
but network installation fails, and that the node quickly comes up to the
login: prompt. Are you talking about a problem during the network
installation process? or later, when you try to boot the node from the
harddrive?
Assuming you mean that network installation failed, there is a console
log in /tftpboot for each node. Please take a look at the log, and post it
to this group. Typically there is a problem installing one of the RPMs, or
as Tom Naughton said, configuring the SCSI drive and as a result network
installation failed...
Once you've looked at the log, please post again...

I am in the process of setting up a 16 node cluster. I tried to use Oscar
to
install initially to just one client. The client seems to boot through the
network (with some FAILED messages while booting) but does not continue
with
the installation after reaching the login prompt.
I am using Oscar 1.1 with RedHat 7.1
Any help is appreciated.
