the OSCAR buttons are frontends to sis and so is tksis. they run the same 
commands - mksiimage, mksimachine, mksirange, etc so remoiving images is 
very safe. I've done it a million times over the past 3 weeks ! 

If you want to customise which kernel goes with which image, you could 
also use kernel_picker...
