Title: [Oscar-users] Step 5: Client boot
Hi Ron:

If you installed Fedora Core 2 with the 'Workstation' option, then tftp should not be installed.

Anyways, your assumption is right, you should uninstall tftp-0.33-3.i386 and let OSCAR install tftp-hpa-0.21-1oscar - you can make sure that is the one that is currently installed by running:

rpm -qa | grep tftp

on the server.  If that's the case, then you should just be able to re-run the installer (./install_cluster ethX) and pick up where you left off.

With regards to network boot and imaging clients, make sure that during Step 6: Setup Networking that you click on 'Setup Network Boot' and 'Setup DHCP Server'.

It would help if you can get a console to take a look at exactly what is going on the node during the network boot/imaging process.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] Step 5: Client boot

Ok, I finally got the network working and got to step 5.  Rightnow, I
cannot get the clients to boot off of the floppy or the net.

First, only some of my clients' MACs come through when I collect.
(booting from floppy)  The ones that do I'm able to assign to node
names, and when I reboot with floppy, I'm able to ping them a minute
or two later, so I know they're getting their infor from DHCP.

Net boot works, acquires an IP, then tftp times out.

Floppy boot aborts on the error "Cannot read hostname, imagename,
scriptname etc" (the one with the joke about scottish accent.

The tftp problem I think I know.  install_cluster bombe because my
system had tftp ver .33 instead of .27.  I thought that
install_cluster would put the correct version in, so I removed tftp
ver .33.  I guess that was probably a mistake.  Can I add tftp ver 27
now, then rerun only the portion of the install that modifies those
files, or should I start over?

R
