Hi YoungJun:

You can find out what update version you are using by doing:

% cat /etc/redhat-release

During Step 4, select redhat-3asU2-i386.rpmlist for the rpmlist instead of the one automatically selected for you before you go ahead and build the image.

Cheers,

Bernard

2) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (Gold or Update 2) rpmlist
   -----------------------------------------------

IN OSCAR WIZARD STEP 4: if you're running an earlier version than Update 3,
you will need to manually select the correct rpmlist before generating the
client image.  Select the appropriate file for your architecture

  /opt/oscar/oscarsample/redhat-3asU2-i386.rpmlist
or
  /opt/oscar/oscarsample/redhat-3asU2-ia64.rpmlist

I think I copied all rpm file under /tftpboot/rpm directory.
I think we have Update 2. I could find  this file: /opt/oscar/oscarsample/redhat-3asU2-i386.rpmlist.

What should I do with this file?

Thank you
YoungJun

Hi YoungJun:

It looks like you're missing some RPMs from /tftpboot/rpm:

DepMan: update-rpms failed to select packages,

dhcp providing RPM not found

Did you copy all the RPMs from each RHEL3 CD to /tftpboot/rpm?

Also which RHEL3 update version are you using?  If you are using Update 3, you can use the default rpmlist, if you're using Update 2 or Gold, then you need to _manually_ select a different rpmlist when building the image - please read the README.RH3AS.txt for further details.

Cheers,

Bernard

Attached is a oscarinstall.log file.
I did not update our RHEL3, so it is not Update 4.

Thanks

Hi YoungJun:

I recommend going through the README.RH3AS.txt as it contains important information about installing on RHEL3 systems.  Also, what update version is your RHEL3?  We do not currently support RHEL3 Update 4.

Also, posting your oscarinstall.log (found in /opt/oscar) would help.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] Installing problems on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3

Hi,

I'm a new user for linux cluster. I tried to setup the cluster in my lab computers.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 is installed on the computers.

In STEP 4, I couldn't find the path of /var/lib/systemimager..... There was no directory called systemimager under /var/lib.

Then tried to install OSCAR, there was an error, "Oscar wizard preparation script failed to complete at ./install_cluster line 215.

Anyone knows what this error means?

Regards,
YoungJun
