Now I am confused. I reinstalled the whole lot with RedHat 9 as this is
supposedly supported, and still the old nodes work perfectly well. The
newer ones still have errors about the network cards.

In the meantime I have a reply from "supermicro":

<-----

The linux distribution like RH ES 3.0 and FC 2 and 3 on a IDE harddrive
installation should be no problem, please use the LAN driver from below
link:

ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/driver/LAN/Intel/PRO_v8.4/PRO1000/LINUX/

and make sure to have latest bios installed R1.0C
http://www.supermicro.com/support/bios/

<-----

So I reinstall RH ES 3.

I read the readme, and built the rpm package, included this when I built the
image and tried installing with that. Still no joy. It is installed, but
does nothing. I put the tar file on a floppy, installed this on one of the
nodes, and followed instructions 1-4 in the readme, but cannot install.

Anybody have any clues? I'm guessing this is no longer an oscar problem.

Thanks.
