Hi All

I know that this has been discussed before, but I searched the archives of this forum, and the answer is still not clear to me. Could someone please explain to me (in simple step by step instructions) how I should update system files on my computational nodes.

For example:
I am running Oscar 4.1 on RHEL 3 (WS) and the headnode has a subscription to the Redhat Network. Redhat comes up with an update to (lets say) glibc which I want to install into the headnode, the system image and each of the comp. nodes.

For the headnode it is very simple, I select the package in the Redhat up2date interface and a couple of mouse clicks later it is done. However I'm not sure where that leaves me with regard to the system image and the comp nodes.

1) How do I find out what Redhat up2date just did to my system (installed a new .rpm I guess)?

2) How do I do the same to the stored system image and the existing comp. nodes?

I apologize for (re)asking such an elementary question, but it beats trying to work it out for myself :-) and I'll bet that I'm not the only one who would appreciate a nice clear answer.

Many thanks

Giles
