When I install oscar 4.1, I noticed in step 2(Package configuration) we can configure the kernel_picker package. I am not very sure about the function of this package.
In my master node, the operation system installed is RHEL AS3 U3. When configure the kernel_picker , there are two options like "/boot/vmlinux-2.4.21-20ELsmp" and "/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.21-20ELsmp" . I choosed the "/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.21-20ELsmp" option.(which is same to the grub.conf file). But when I network booted up my client node, the client node firstly loaded the kernel (Boel 2.4.25) and initrd.img files form directory /tftpboot/ of master node. while my installation failed for the boel-2.4.25kernel and initrd.img couldn't find my SCSI harddisk. So I am puzzled why it didn't load the similar vmlinuz-2.4.21-20ELsmp kernel to my master node, since it can recognize my SCSI harddisk. PS: If any one has succeeded in installing a client node used Adaptec asc 39320(b) scsi control card(driver is aic79xx) with network booting up method, I am looking forward to studying your experience! -- ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Discover Easy Linux Migration Strategies from IBM.
