Dear Bernard :

It is a pleasure to tell you I have resolved the problem puzzled me
for a long time.

Today, I recompiled the linux-2.4.25 kernel with the newer souce codes
of adaptec SCSI driver. The compilation process was all right and
I got the newer modules. Then I replaced the modules diretory in
file /usr/share/systemimager/boot/i386/standard/boel_binaries.tar.gz.
with the newer modules.
After that , I unzip the original initrd.img in /tftpboot/ to a temp
directory and modified the file /etc/init.d/functions. I commented
some lines of the subroutine autodetect_hardware_and_load_modules in
file functions and enforced it to load the aic79xx.o modules. (If
don't do so , It will report the error" Detecting hardware: spurious
8259A interrupt: IRQ7" and couldn't successfully load the neccesary
modules). Then I created a modified initrd.img.

After all that, the network booting up works well with my Dell
Precision 470 and the systemimager's kernel can find the SCSI
HDD(Adaptec 39320B DellOEM) successfully.

My methods maybe isn't the best solution, I think the prototype tool
you mentioned will be more convenient.

BTW:
Although I have figured this problem out, I have met another problem
which occured when network installation had finished and rebooted the
slave node. I will post that problem in a new title. Hope you can
give me a hand.
Thanks again.

Best Regards
Kevin Zeng
