Dear members: I am now trying to establish a linux cluster with 20 Dell precision 470 workstations(2Xeron3.6GHz CPU/1GB RAM/ Adaptec39320B HostRaid SCSI 36GB hdd). I choosed the OSCAR4.1 and RedHat EL AS3U3 distribution.
When the network installation finished and I rebooted my slave node, the booting process stopped and reported the error message as follows(the last few lines): " Loading ext3.o module Mounting /proc filesystem Creating block devices Kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-8, errno=2 VFS:Cannot open root device "806" or 08:06 Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:06 " The boot loader installed by SystemImager is LILO, the kernel is 2.4.21-20ELsmp(same to the master node). After I booted up to the rescue mode with the RHEL AS3U3's boot CD, I changed to directory /mnt/sysimage/etc/ and opened the fstab file: # cat fstab /dev/sda6 / ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/sda1 /boot ext3 defaults 1 2 /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto, owner 0 0 none /dev/pts devpts defaults none /proc proc defaults 0 0 nfs_oscar:/home /home nfs rw 0 0 Is there any suggestion on how to fix this problem ? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
