Hello everyone,
Over the last few years, I was very happy with how
OSCAR perform on my cluster that grew from 8 nodes all
the way to five clusters of 128 nodes each. The CPU I
used vary from the slower 2.0GHz Xeons up to the
fastest 3.06GHz. Currently we cannot get anymore of
this type of Xeon CPUs and I have to bring in the
800Mhz EM64T Xeons.

My intention was to put Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 in
the head and subsequently, to the computing nodes. I
just finished putting together a rack of 17 identical
boxes. All with 3.6GHz Xeon EM64T CPU and 8GB of RAM
in each node.

Before I dive in and find it out the hard way of
potential problem, I would like to seek the advice of
anyone with the experience installing and setup RH
EL3. Specifically, do I install/setup RH EL3
completely on the head node, with all the patches and
updates from Redhat before installing OSCAR? Or is it
OK if I just do a plain installation of RH EL3 and
then OSCAR on top of that? Is there any potential
issue that I need to be aware of before setting up RH
EL3?

Thank you in advance for your responses,
