Title: [Oscar-users] node installation problem: scsi raid not recognised, FC4
Hi Gregory:

I must admit I'm not too familiar with hardware raid stuff.  But having said that...  the version of SystemImager that came with OSCAR 4.2.1 may not be able to handle that configuration - Erich may be able to pitch in about this since he has more experience regarding raid setup.

Anyways, perhaps you can try updating your version of SystemImager with the version here:

http://www.bcgsc.ca/downloads/oscar/systemimager/

You will need to re-build the image as the image has version-dependent bits (for SystemImager).

That version is from the 3.6.x branch (which is still under development) but is known to have better hardware support.  It also supports UseYourOwnKernel which allows you to generate the boot binaries from a host system (host OS, so it'll take the modules/drivers from a known working configuration).  Does your headnode have hardware raid too?

To answer your other questions - you can get console to the machine you are imaging and you should be able to do things like "lsmod", "insmod", "modprobe", etc. - so that should be able to give you info on modules loaded.  Read up on systemconfigurator (man) as it is responsible configuring hardware setup for the nodes.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] node installation problem: scsi raid not recognised, FC4

Hello,

I've setup 2 machines to evaluate oscar. Head node is configured with
a fedora core 4. I'm using the latest oscar beta. Installation goes
smooth until node installation. Node is booting correctly but cannot
use its hard disks. Disks are scsi with hardware raid 1. On the head
nodes, cciss module is used. How can I check which modules are loaded
during node installation? How can I change that if the needed module
isn't loaded correctly?

Regards,

       Gregory.
