Hi Susanne,

do you have a full backup? Then simply restore it to a new machine, give it
the IP of the original machine and all is well.

If you don't have a full backup how much of OSCAR stuff do you have backed up?
/var/lib/sis, /opt/oscar, /varl/lib/systemimager, the mysql database is the
minimum you need (also the oda password somewhere in /etc). Then you will be
able to get your OSCAR up and running. Might be you miss some RPMs in the
installation, but you can then reinstall the server packages after starting
the install wizard. Oh, don't forget /etc/hosts, a usable copy could be in
/var/lib/systemimager/scripts/hosts. Anyway, there are quite some bits and
pieces scattered around, like /etc/dhcpd.conf, /etc/systemimager/ ...

If you want to go through the OSCAR install process, you can recreate the SIS
database by restoring the old /var/lib/sis. This gives you a chance to get the
MACS by calling mksimachine.

Good luck!

Best regards,
Erich
