Damien, If your Xeon is EM64T, and you install 64bit Linux on it, then there is no difference.
If you install a 32 bit Linux on the Xeon server, and if you want a 64bit Linux on the Opteron, that is a different story and it is not a trivial exercise. So the question is, if the Xeon is a EM64T system ?
