Well according to this repository:

http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/slc306/i386/RedHat/RPMS/

It also has "sl-release" RPM which provides "/etc/redhat-release" so it should work...  If you can post the error message, that would help...

Cheers,

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

Actually I am using the CERN Certified Linux (Scientific Linux CERN) SLC 3.0.6. Which is ofcourse a customization of original SL.

It should work since Scientific Linux has a "sl-release" RPM which provides "/etc/redhat-release".  What did the error message say?  Can you post it?  Which exact version of SL are you using?  3.6?

Thanks,

Bernard

Well, as I am using the Scientific Linux, so I used the Redhat-3as-i386.rpmlist and for me it worked when I deleted the last line in the list file.

Hi Usman:

/etc/redhat-release only showed up in RHEL3's rpmlist, not RHEL4.  His issue is the system cannot install initscripts RPM because it cannot find the dependency "/etc/redhat-release" which is provided by the redhat-release RPM.

And as far as I know, having /etc/redhat-release in the rpmlist works fine.  At least I know this is still in our rhel3-i386.rpmlist in trunk and I know DongInn has tested creating an image and it works.

Cheers,

Bernard

Dear Abishek,

there is a problem in the rpm list, I encountered the same problem. The rpm list for RHEL in the /opt/oscar/oscarsamples directory contains the last line (/etc/redhat-releases), which is not an rpm. Please remove this line and then you will be able to build the image.
